Ballet

Ballet is a graceful dance style focused on precise movement, balance, and control. It builds strength, flexibility, and technique through structured steps and fluid expression.

 
 

JAZZ

A form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Various styles include classical to modern rhythm.

 

Contemporary

Expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. 

lyrical

A style of jazz dance with a strong element of modern ballet relating to the lyrics and style of music. Ballet and jazz training are required to enroll.

Hip Hop

A modern and extremely popular style of dance with emphasis on rhythm and coordination. Athletic shoes with non-marking soles are required.

tap

A form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Various styles include classical to modern rhythm.

Musical theatre

Jazz-based class which teaches specific dance steps required to dance in a musical play. Vocal training and acting skills are also taught to encourage students to have the Triple Threat: dancing, acting, and singing!

fitness

Includes Stretch, Strength, & Conditioning, Acrobatics, and Yoga.

 

adult

Adult classes are offered in a variety of dance styles. Why should children have all the fun?!!!

Jazz, Hip Hop, tap, contemporary levels

PRESCHOOL COMBO 1
Little to no experience required

PRESCHOOL COMBO 2
1 year + of experience in movement-based class

KINDER COMBO
little to no experience and up to 2 years of experience

BASIC OR PRIMARY
Introductory class, little to no experience

BEGINNING
Little to no prior experience up to/ and including 2+ years of experience

INTERMEDIATE
For dancers who have completed the beginning level foundational skills, typically with at least 3-4 years training

ADVANCED
for dancers with 5+ years of training

PRIMARY BALLET
little to no experience required

BALLET IA
1 year of basic/primary level ballet experience

1BALLET IB
1 year of ballet experience

BALLET IIA
2 years of ballet training

BALLET IIB
3-4 years of ballet training

BALLET III
4-5 years of ballet training

BALLET IV
6-7 years of ballet training

Ballet V/VI
7+ years of ballet training

BEGINNING POINTE
1 year of pre-pointe training

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED POINTE

2+ years of pointe training

Jennifer - ballet teacher

Jennifer Kulz Smith

Jennifer received her ballet training in San Francisco with the Academy of Ballet, Dancers' Stage, Lanova Academy, City Ballet School and Boston Ballet School. She has performed with various Bay Area companies including the Peninsula Ballet Theater, San Francisco Dance Theater, and the Santa Clara Ballet. She performed in the San Francisco production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" for 4 1/2 years. Jennifer has two beautiful daughters, and has enjoyed teaching and watching students grow at Dance Connection since 2001.
